Do you have to have a permit to park on campus?
YES! There is no free parking on campus. All parking on campus includes a cost factor. If you are visiting the campus for an hour or two, you may park at a meter, in one of the paylots, or you can purchase a day pass. The cost is $7.00 per day. If you are a temporary employee you may purchase permits by the week or month.

What do I need to bring with me to buy a permit?
To purchase a permit at the U of U, you must show that your vehicle passes emissions. If your vehicle is registered in a county that requires an I/M certificate, (in Utah that would include Salt Lake, Davis, Weber, and Utah Counties), then you need to bring your vehicle registration. If your vehicle is registered elsewhere, you may need an emissions test performed on your vehicle.

Can I purchase a permit for less than the entire year?
Your choice is a semester or annual permit. The shorter the time, the more the cost. The least expensive option would be to purchase an annual permit and return it at any time throughout the year for a prorated refund.
